Exhibition – Igli Marion 12 december

Friday the 12th of december we welcome Igli Marion at Tirana Ekspres.

Igli is going to exhibit his paintings for one week starting friday at 7 pm, his work will be visible untill the 19th.

In his paintings he is not following one strict concept, he is experimenting with different materials and colours accoring to his source of inspiration.

,,I have different inspirations, mythology, history, human emotions,
memories, and different techniques, watercolour, acrylic, oil
painting. Sometimes i get inspired by chaos or the opposite, how do
people feel in very regular and organized structures, The colors i use
also differ from one painting to another but the narration is also
present. Through the keys of symbolism there is always narration.” – Igli Marion

The cover painting is called “Sfinksi” (40 to 30cm) and is a mix of acrilic and water colour.

See you in Tirana Ekspres!

DELIR NOKTURN – Avdor Kodhima 14 november

AvdorWe invite you this Friday to a special art expo released by Avdor Kodhima.
In this exhibition, there are 14 paintings offering different dimensions. These paintings are produced with spray paint, brushes and hands with fluorescent paint which under the light of ultraviolet neon makes the paintings glow in the dark and look like lights.
This is the very first exhibition using this technique in Albania.
The slogan of this exhibition is : I CAN SEE INTO THE DARK

This paintings are like a vision and a crucifixion of what is positive and negative. This artworks come like a medal with two sides with two and more meanings:
for example in one of these artworks you can see a planet being attacked from huge meteors and at the same time it seems like an egg insemination.
Light into the dark and darkness into the light.
I’m not adding more but I invite you to come and see by yourself and live the sensation this art will deliver to you.
Friday in date 14.11.2014 time 19.30 with the wish that you’ll enjoy this trip the best possible.

21 CONTEMPORARY PASTS – PHOTO EXHIBITION

21 contemporary pasts [21 contemporary pasts]

Photo exhibition by Arba Bekteshi
19-21 September  2014
Ex-museum of natural sciences (ish-Muezu i Shkencave të Natyrës),  Rruga e Kavajës

The artist during her anthropologic work and observations in Tirana, has engaged with development efforts, creation of topoi and the role of art in re-appropriating, regenerating and reviving public spaces, while challengeing dominating discourses of urbanization and present possible ways for resistance.
She takes to examine aspects of the continuing migration to Tirana, and the aesthetic imported and created as a way to communication in the 21-shi neighbourhood. The outside looks of older buildings and those of newer villas, as ways for residents to communicate with each other. The looks of older buildings and their windows translate as efforts of people to either accept development changes in Tirana, or refuse the presence of the new. The doors of new villas transpose in and engage the city and the viewer in a discourse about an aesthetic reminiscent of a certain familiarity migrating from the village, – a marginal ‘new rural’.

Tirana Ekspres and the artist collaborate on an urgency to form pro-active, open spaces for cultural engagement, while contextualizing an edifying city space. Both parties endeavor to engage the viewers with their community and make room for participation in art practices informed by social change.

Practical note:

+++ Due to safety reasons we recommend a visit by daylight. Please, whenever you enter the area/building: Mind your step and wear comfy shoes! Attandance at your own risk! +++

The exhibition will open on Friday 17.00pm. Snacks & wine will be waiting.
As it is more or less a public space, you can visit the exhibition during the weekend at any time!
