START: Friday, 24th April, 16:00 @ Tirana Ekspres!

With the WANDERING CITY LAB Tirana Ekspres and Mobile Albania will open up a platform for citizens and artists to reclaim artistically public spaces in Tirana. Albanian artists of all genres, activists and citizens are invited to explore collectively ways of trans-local, urban appropriation. For this purpose, Tirana Ekspres invited the German performance collective Mobile Albania which has vast experiences of travelling across Europe with its “post-theatre-state” and confronting the question of nowadays’ possibilities for the creation of common spaces in an era of expanding technology, speed and mobility. Always in exchange with the respective locality, they develop site-specific theatrical and city projects that involve residential groups, individuals and local topics (facebook.com/MobileAlbania, www.mobilealbania.de).

This workshop will be a practical forum that is welcoming input from all the participants. It is about sharing and networking, as well as identifying and clustering themes and artistic intervention practices. Trying a variety of formats, we will start our “migrant movement” through the city. Together, we will wander through attitudes and beliefs; explore residential areas and peripheries, centers and backyards. Our zigzag course through the geometric urban shapes will offer room for encounters with local residents and by-passers. Together, let’s discover new paths to live in and create the city!
